Urs Kalecinski

"the miraclebear" on his way to Mr. Olympia

Urs Kalecinski, known as "the miraclebear," was born in 1998 in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany, with Polish
roots.

His passion for sports runs in the family—his mother was a ballerina, his father a Polish weightlifter, and his older brother Sergej competed as a Bundesliga gymnast. Inspired by Sergej, Urs discovered his
love for bodybuilding at an early age.

At just 14 years old, he entered a gym for the
first time, accompanied by his brother. Without a structured training plan but with clear goals, he aimed to bench press 100 kg by his 15th birthday—and he
did. At 16, former bodybuilder Paul Buksbaum noticed his potential. Observing Urs' dedication and training style, Buksbaum was impressed by his physique and
symmetry, convincing him to compete in bodybuilding.

First Bodybuilding Competitions and Achievements

At 17, Urs trained under Buksbaum and competed
in his first contest on April 23, 2016, at the DBFV Youth and Junior Championship in Fulda, placing fourth in the under 76.5 kg category.

Just weeks later, on May 28, 2016, he participated in the GNBF Championship (German Natural Bodybuilding &
Fitness Federation), finishing sixth in the under 78.2 kg category.

These early placements fueled his ambition to
improve and aim for the top.

In 2018, at just 19, Kalecinski made a major
comeback on stage. Competing at the ANBF (Austrian Natural Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation) in Austria, he won the Youth, Junior, and Men's categories
in the under 85 kg division, securing the overall title as well. From that moment, he earned the title "Natural Pro."

A week later, at the 15th GNBF German
Championship & GNBB Pro 2018, he claimed first place in Junior Bodybuilding. That same evening, he made his professional debut in the Natural
Pro's division, finishing fourth.

During his GNBF years, Kalecinski attended the
Kiedaisch Sports School in Stuttgart, where he trained as a sports teacher.

The Path to IFBB Pro

Following his success, Kalecinski moved to
Switzerland in 2019 for a job opportunity and to fully commit to his dream of becoming a professional athlete. His goal that year: earning his IFBB Pro Card.

Working in a gym while preparing for a Pro
Qualifier—a competition every aspiring IFBB Pro must win—he finally succeeded on his third attempt. He won the Iceland Pro Show Qualifier in the Classic
Physique category, securing the coveted IFBB Pro Card at just 21 years old.

Returning home briefly, he became a full-time
influencer. With his rising success, he secured his first sponsorship deal with ESN, allowing him to focus entirely on his professional bodybuilding career.

Collaboration with Stefan Kienzl

After a short recovery period, Urs sought a
coach. He reached out to Stefan Kienzl, whose work had impressed him. He first sent Kienzl an email,f ollowed by a personal introduction letter—and in 2020,
their partnership began, proving to be a highly successful collaboration.

That same year, Urs met his partner Alisha, whom
he affectionately calls “Alitsche.” In August 2020, they moved in together to Berlin.
Since then, they've become a strong team, sharing their progress and daily life on social media, inspiring many young athletes.

Class Switch to the Men's Open Bodybuilding Division

In August 2025, Kalecinski announced that he would be moving up to the Open division. This was not an easy step for him, as he had been considered a top favorite for this year’s Classic Physique title.

However, during his prep, which began in May, Kalecinski realized it was becoming increasingly difficult to make weight for the division’s limit, even on very low calories. On top of that, he had been struggling with mental challenges for some time. He had lost his love for the sport. The gym was no longer the place that made him happy.

Kalecinski pulled the plug and decided to switch classes. Mentally, this was the best decision for him: no more forcing himself into a weight cap, no more unnecessarily losing muscle – and most importantly, he rediscovered the joy of training.

The bodybuilding community was divided over his decision. Many doubted he could succeed, saying he was “far too small.” But Kalecinski wasn’t discouraged. At his debut in Milan, he immediately proved the critics wrong by winning the Pro Show.

Kalecinski is now a Mr. Olympia competitor – both in Classic Physique and in Men’s Open Bodybuilding. In the coming years, the clear goal is to break into the Top 5.

Goals and Outlook

Before Kalecinski announced his move to the Men’s Open Bodybuilding division in August 2025, the goal was clear: to become the first German winner of the Classic Physique. A goal that, after three third-place finishes in previous years, seemed entirely realistic.

With the switch, however, the cards have been reshuffled. At Mr. Olympia 2025, Kalecinski wants to prove himself among the heavyweights for the very first time. He is eager to find out how much more mass he needs to add and which weak points he must address in the upcoming offseason. A Top 10 finish would round things off satisfactorily.

After Mr. Olympia, Kalecinski will enter his recovery phase and then move into the offseason to work on his weaknesses. In 2026, the attack continues – with the clear goal of qualifying for Mr. Olympia once again.
