The Road to the Top of Mr. Olympia
Chris Bumstead, also known as "Cbum", was born in Ottawa, Canada in 1995. From an early age he showed exceptional talent in bodybuilding.
In 2017 and 2018, Bumstead finished second at the Mr. Olympia, behind Breon Ansley. In 2019, everything changed: Bumstead won the first of his six consecutive Mr. Olympia titles (2019-2024), becoming the undisputed figurehead of Classic Physique.
After his sixth victory in 2024, he announced his retirement on the Mr. Olympia stage.

The Surprising Move to the Open Class
Only 4 weeks later he wanted to try again and started at the EVLS Prague Pro Show.
But not in the Classic Physique category. Bumstead's dream was always to compete in the open class. So he ended his career by competing in the open class and came second, behind fourth-placed Mr. Olympia participant Martin Fitzwater.
Chris Bumstead's Coaches: From Brother-in-Law to Elite Coach
Until 2022, Bumstead was coached by Iain Valliere, the husband of his sister Melissa Bumstead. Valliere himself was an active open bodybuilder and brought a lot of experience with him.
However, since both of them were competing, they decided to end their coaching relationship in 2022. Chris Bumstead then began coaching with Hany Rambod.
The IFBB Pro Career of Chris Bumstead
At the age of 21, Bumstead secured his IFBB Pro Card by winning the overall title at the IFBB North American Bodybuilding Championships.
In 2017, he won two more competitions and qualified for the Mr. Olympia for the first time. Since then, he has focused exclusively on this competition - he has not competed in the Arnold Classic once and has not taken part in any other competitions.
Crowd Favorite and Entrepreneur
Bumstead is not only a champion, but also a crowd favorite. His humble nature makes him one of the most popular personalities in bodybuilding.
He now lives in Florida with his fiancée Courtney King and their daughter Bradley. The couple will marry in 2025. Courtney King was herself a successful IFBB bikini athlete and won the Mr. Olympia title in the bikini class in 2016.
